                    St. Francis Soup Kitchen

Christ Child parish provides outreach for those in need in our mountain community  and the Santa Cruz area.

The Holy Cross chapter of St. Vincent de Paul Society has an ongoing need for nutritious food such as  peanut butter, beans,  tuna, canned meats, and other wholesome foods.  There is a particular need for new socks, underwear, diapers (sizes 3 and 4) and other specific items that are listed on the contribution baskets.

The St. Francis Soup Kitchen serves lunch Monday through Friday to Santa Cruz people in need. We learned that our recent donation of $76 serves 70 meals. The facility includes a "Close Closet" which provides clothing for men and women.  It also provide a place for homeless people to shower.

Please leave your regular contribution (weekly if possible)  in the baskets which are in the church lobby.

On Saturday and Sunday November 19 & 20 of 2005 Christchild volunteers collected donations from customers entering the Summit Store.  Generous response from these folks resulted in a full station wagon load of groceries being delivered to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry at Holy Cross church in Santa Cruz.  The cash donations were split evenly and $306.43 was turned over to to the pantry and $306.44 was turned over to the St. Francis Soup Kitchen in Santa Cruz.
Many thanks to these caring mountain folks and to Darrel and Karen Osborn of the Summit Store.
